A Very Confused Week...
Hello my lovely,
I hope you are so well this fab Friday! I need to share the most confusing week with you…
The week started with TWO BIG WINS for me, well THREE actually! They weren't directly my personal wins, but they belong to my clients—two spas I work with very closely—so I take the wins as mine too.
Both spas were awarded finalists in the Hotel Spa of the Year Category at the annual Spa Competition held by Les Nouvelles South Africa. Out of five finalists, both of our spas made it to the Top 5 list! Yayyyyyy!
And then, a moment of pride and joy when Lina, a Spa Manager I work closely with, was awarded Spa Leader of the Year. I'm incredibly proud of her and couldn't think of anyone more deserving at this exact point.
Top the awards with a great industry spa conference, and the week had a brilliant start! It continued to be awesome when my team, who runs the brands I manufacture, hit their sales targets, showing explosive growth for the first time in a long time. They've been growing steadily, but this month's growth was phenomenal. They're on a roll, and I'm so proud of this new team achieving such great things in such a short time.
Then, to top it all off, another spa I work with closely achieved its highest recorded revenue since we opened, and it’s the middle of “dead season”! I'm literally smiling and shining from ear to ear. What a week, and what more great news could anyone ask for?
But then came the bizarre turn of events that I so did not expect.
In fact, there are too many to list, but here are a few things that hit me hard this week:
- Two deaths of close family members of people I work with closely.
- Resignations of two key people in the industry.
- Bickering and nastiness in a group of therapists I work with, which I did not expect at all.
- A team-building event gone totally pear-shaped. What hurt most was hearing that they didn't feel spoiled or treated at all, despite a lovely lunch, drinks, and use of beautiful spa facilities, all for free.
- A client realizing only now, after two years, that her financial records don’t make sense.
- Pushback from a client about introducing a new strategy to boost average docket value.
- A very tired, overworked, and overwhelmed client who is literally running out of battery.
And more that I just can’t remember in detail.
This is bizarre. How does a week start so high and then take such a drastic U-turn three days in?
Has this ever happened to you?
Can you relate?
Please tell me it has happened to you too at some point. Send me an email with some energy and positive vibes, please—I need it!
But the lesson in this story is crucial:
Life and business are full of highs and lows, often coming in rapid succession. The key is resilience. Embrace the wins, learn from the setbacks, and keep moving forward.
Remember, it’s not about avoiding the lows but about how we rise from them. Each challenge brings an opportunity to grow stronger, wiser, and more determined.
Stay strong, stay positive, and keep pushing forward. We’re all in this together.
Sending you all positive vibes and energy for the week ahead!
Love you lots xxx
