Time to Play and Have Fun with Our Very Own Dojo Cat!
I had the most amazing time on Saturday night and just had to share some highlights with you. I hope they inspire you as much as they did the room full of fabulously dressed-up therapists.
The theme was Fire & Ice, and the event was my brand's annual SIX Skincare & Spalicious Body Awards Gala Dinner Party. Imagine over 100 beauties in the room, all ready to have the night of their lives.
There are two stories from the evening that I particularly want to share with you.
Mandy's Transformation
First, there's Mandy, a therapist I've been working with for three years. She was awarded Most Improved Retail Therapist, a recognition for therapists who have pushed themselves beyond their comfort zones. When I first met Mandy, she struggled with recommending products to clients and had zero sales. Her client interactions were minimal—she did her treatments and that was it.
Today, Mandy is in the top five therapists at her spa, which employs over 20 therapists. She gets daily reviews with her name mentioned and is motivated and driven to keep growing. She has transformed from just being a therapist to running her own little business within the spa. Here’s a message she sent me after the event—it brought a few tears of joy to my eyes.
The point I want to make by sharing Mandy's story is that therapists who are currently not engaging meaningfully with clients or making sales can change and become great, just like Mandy. But as the owner or manager, you need to guide and set the scene for this transformation. And guess what? I’m here to help you do just that, as I’ve done it with hundreds of therapists like Mandy.
Petula's Unbelievable Achievement
The second story is going to blow you away. Every year, we run a Therapist of the Year competition where therapists enter themselves. The criteria for this award are based 80% on their sales, and they need to submit retail unit sales every month for the duration of the competition. The other 20% is based on their attendance at educational sessions, social media efforts, professionalism, and one mystery guest review.
Now, let me ask you: how many retail units in one month do you think is REALLY GOOD? 30 maybe? 50 would be incredible, right? Well, let me paint the picture. Our winner for the 5th year running is Petula. She works half-day in her salon, and we stopped counting her units when she reached 1500 units back in March, and the competition started in August. That’s an average of about 180 units per month! The second-place therapist works full-day in a very busy salon and reached 500 units by the end of April, averaging 55 units per month.
How unbelievable is this? Well, you better believe it. The best part is if Petula can do it, anyone can. Her acceptance speech was magnificent. She motivated and inspired every therapist in the room to aim high because, in her words, "If you solve your clients' problems and make them feel like they are your only client, they will buy anything from you."
A Dojo Cat Move for Fun
And for a bit of fun, I decided to pull a Dojo Cat move at my very own Gala. I mean, who needs the Met Gala to sport a towel outfit, right?
Have a magnificent weekend, champ. Chat soon!
