Why Your Brand Might Be Failing—And How to Stop It!

I had an interesting conversation this week that really stuck with me. I was visiting a spa I’ve known for years—beautiful space, great team, the works. But something felt… off. Clients weren’t rebooking, retail sales were down, and the energy just wasn’t there. The owner, completely unaware, told me, “Business is a little slow, but I think it’s just the season.”

That’s when it hit me—so many owners don’t see the downward spiral until it’s too late. And when I say "brand," I don’t just mean your logo or color scheme. Your brand is how people FEEL when they walk through your doors. It’s your reputation, your presence, and ultimately, your business.

So, if your bookings are dropping, retail is sluggish, or clients aren’t raving about their experience, here’s how to stop the spiral before it’s too late:

1️ Reignite Your Client Experience

The smallest details make the biggest impact. When was the last time you walked through your spa as if you were a client? From the welcome to the final goodbye—does it feel special? 

2️ Stop Ignoring Your Numbers

Hope is not a strategy. Take a hard look at rebooking rates, average spend per client, and service vs. retail sales. If something’s dipping, don’t wait—fix it now. (make use of my secret weapon number 4 for this).

3️ Show Up Online (Like You Mean It!)

Your brand isn’t just built inside your spa—it’s also built online. When was your last social media post? Are you replying to reviews? If you’re invisible, your competition isn’t.

4️Innovate or Be Left Behind

Trends change, and so do clients. If your menu looks the same as it did two years ago, it’s time for a refresh. Add something new, bundle treatments, or create an exclusive membership. Keep them excited!

5️ Train & Motivate Your Team

A business is only as strong as its people. If your team isn’t engaged, clients will feel it. Regular training, goal setting, and a little motivation go a long way. (look out for secret weapon number 5).
