Yoo-hoo! When Was Your Last “WHY” Check-In

newsletters 2024

Hello my lovely {{ first_name }},

Remember how I kept going on about completing a vision board at the beginning of the year? Well, it’s time to revisit that vision board or goal sheet and check on your progress. How close are you to achieving those goals?

This check-in isn’t just for you, but for your team as well. Just when you think you've done all the training and motivation you can, remember: your job is never finished when it comes to your team!

Yesterday, I had an incredible session with a team of therapists and management. We did a “MY WHY” exercise. Ever done one? It's super cool, and the results are even cooler. Everyone was buzzing, and the sheets went up in the staff area with everyone giggling about the pictures they had to draw and challenging each other to see who would reach their goals first.

How to Do the “MY WHY” Exercise

You’ll need about 45 minutes for this, so don’t rush it. Here’s how it works:

  1. Identify Top 3 Needs or Wants: Each person writes down their top 3 needs or wants for their life right now (short-term, 1-3 months maximum).
  2. Draw the Items: Everyone draws the items they listed. The drawing part is crucial, so make sure everyone participates. Why? Because drawing engages the brain in a unique way, enhancing focus and creativity.
  3. Assign Value: Assign a value to each item and write how many retail products are equal in value to their goal. This number helps everyone realize that their desires are within reach.

The giggles and the deep connections formed during this exercise were the best parts. It also highlighted the power of visualizing and concretely planning for your goals.

Why is Writing and Drawing “YOUR WHY” So Important?

  1. Clarifies Vision: Writing and drawing your goals clarifies your vision and makes your aspirations tangible.
  2. Boosts Motivation: Seeing your goals visually can reignite motivation and drive.
  3. Encourages Team Bonding: Sharing and discussing these drawings fosters a deeper connection among team members.
  4. Enhances Creativity: The act of drawing activates different parts of the brain, sparking creativity and innovative thinking.
  5. Promotes Accountability: Displaying these drawings in a common area keeps everyone accountable and encourages a supportive environment.

So, grab your team and get started on your “MY WHY” exercise. Let’s reignite that passion and drive for the rest of the year!
